Live From Allure of the Seas: It’s Pop Art!

Wielding a balloon anything could be the ultimate ice-breaker — just ask sister balloonists Ryann (above left) and Angela, who are stationed near their face-painting mom in Allure of the Seas’ Boardwalk area. (It’s a family biz.) While Angela took classes with a master balloonist, Ryann is a visual learner, adept at watching someone pump, twist and cajole balloons into a penguin, then memorizing the process. Yesterday, the pair told me, a little girl had a simple request: “I want a taco.” (Rita’s Cantina, Allure’s for-fee Mexican venue, is adjacent to the balloonists’ table.) Tacos, burritos and quesadillas are not yet in the repertoire, but the duo — who are ballooning at sea for the first time — convinced the child that a giraffe would suffice. The three most popular requests? Sword, ray-gun … and butterfly.
