Face-Off: Captain Stubing vs. the Beav

July 29, 2011 | By | 3 Comments

Life is full of tough choices, isn’t it? Then again, hop onboard Princess Cruises’ 107-day world cruise and you don’t have to choose. The line announced this week that both Gavin MacLeod (aka Captain Stubing of “The Love Boat”) and Jerry Mathers (aka the Beav of “Leave It to Beaver”) will speak onboard Pacific Princess during its January-to-April cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Venice. Films will be screened and other special guests will give talks (including “screen idol” Tab Hunter and space shuttle astronaut Robert Springer), but it’s those two TV icons that got the Cruise Critic office buzzing (ok, among those who knew who the Beav was, that is). Naturally, we’re wondering with whom you’d prefer to set sail.

This is not a tough decision. Most of us who cruise, grew up with the love boat and would be excited to meet the cast members.

Gee, I hope Jerry doesn’t see this. This could be a seriously blow to his ego. I clicked on Capt. Stubing, because it’s a CRUISE SHIP, but if the question had been “Who would you rather have a malt with at Arnold’s Drive-In Restaurant in Hollywood”, I would have answered differently!
P.S. I still have a crush on Capt. Stubing ex-wife, Stacey!

When I was a teenager,I would watch the Love Boat, thinking I’m going to go on one of those ships some day. And I have to say 11 cruises
later and still counting, I feel fortunate to have had my dream come true. My vote goes to the Captain.
