Azamara losing ground to its competitors

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Azamara Journey

Having not sailed Azamara in close to 8 years, after close to 20 cruises we chose to revisit Azamara based on their unique itinerary. We were able to see Cuba, and the three ABC islands to fill in gaps in our trips through the Caribbean. After 8 years Azamara is no longer the line it once was. In some ways it’s better than it used to be, and in other ways not as good as it used to be. Let’s all ...

We are a British couple in our sixties. This was our second Azamara cruise. Embarkation at Miami took the best part of an hour, complicated by queuing to get and complete the Guest Travel Certification form for Cuba before proceeding to another queue for check-in. It would have been nice if those of us who had downloaded and completed the form prior to arrival could have been ...

This was our first cruise on Azamara and we were not disappointed. The ship is beautifully appointed in attractive neutral colours. Embarkation was simple and fast. Although the stateroom was small, it had ample storage space, mini fridge, safe, and even included binoculars and umbrellas. The restaurants were excellent. We ate in both the Aqualina and Prime C and were pleased with the quality ...

Azamara Journey: My Best Cruise Yet!

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Azamara Journey

Just returned from a 10 day cruise on the Azamara Journey, my 2nd this year on this ship. The ship recently went into drydock and really looks fabulous now. Some big improvements ...added many more 2 and 4 top tables in the main dining room and the buffet up top. This change eliminated almost all waits for tables! The décor throughout was completely refreshed and is very relaxing. The ...

Good but not outstanding

First, it was a great cruise. Was it outstanding, sorry no. The ship is nice, it´s small but we found everything we needed. Embarkation was good and fast, disembarkation a little chaotic but that was the fault of the passengers that couldnt wait for their color. Our cabin was good. We heard a lot of negatives about the front facing cabins but we actually liked it and the view is gorgeous. ...

First of all, the crew was outstanding and also the entertainment, with the exception of the "amazing evening" which was far below average. The food was good, although on two occasions, when my wife ordered from the menu, she was told that the item was not available. We did not go on any ship excursions so I cannot comment in this area. They ship itself was well-maintained, the elevators ...

Oh Azamara, what happened to you?

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Azamara Journey

I don't usually write reviews, there are so many good descriptions of cruises and ports I normally don't feel I have a lot to add, but this last cruise was such a disappointment and it was relatively expensive I thought I had to. Six of us booked an Azamara cruise through the Panama Canal based on an earlier cruise I had taken and therefore recommended we ‘upgrade’ to Azamara. Unfortunately ...

This was our third trip through the Panama Canal and we enjoyed it as much as our first two. We had been to many of the ports on this itinerary before, so we picked this cruise for the ship - we love the R Class ships. We sailed many times on Renaissance - it was our favorite line. We have followed the dispersal of the 8 R Class ships after the line filed for bankruptcy (Oceania has 4, Azamara ...

A Poor Cousin to Oceania

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Azamara Journey

This our first Azamara cruise. We have been on similar Oceania R class ships 5 times before. Although in the future we will continue book future cruises based on destination, we would much rather sail with Oceania. There is a much more corporate culture on board of providing service. The main dining room's food we felt compared very well to Oceania's. Service and ambiance however left ...
