Azamara Journey: Public Rooms

On Azamara Journey, the main reception area, divided into two areas by the grand staircase, was just put together ... here's the shore excursions desk ...
... and the grand staircase, which to all and sundry evokes a shade of "Titanic." A new Celebrity touch here is what's described as the "necklace," the piece that's on display on the landing. It's made of Murano glass. On the other side (sorry, our photos didn't turn out) is the new upscale jewelry shop. It's pretty ... ritzy.
As we noted in our original Shipyard Snapshot, the library will double as Michael's Pub in the evenings.
Its comfortable, cozy-enough-to-fall-asleep-in furnishings have been recovered from Blue Dream -- and there's no change in the ambience, which is a good thing; libraries on the R-series of ships that originally spawned this one are the most beautiful at sea.
In fact, the only major addition -- the Yamaha piano -- really fits right in.
Luxe is the ship's casino.
It's got a number of table games and lots of slots.
There's also a table designed to accommodate passengers in wheelchairs.
The bar is in the center of the casino.
The AquaSpa bears the Celebrity trademark. (Will it for long?)
This is the beauty salon. Frankly, it looks much as the salon did on the older version of the ship!
It's easy to miss the ship's thalassotherapy pool -- but it's one of the nicest hideaways onboard. It's not quite ready for prime time, but here's some info: You get there via the spa's locker rooms; the space features a forward deck; it has a prime locale with teak chairs; and of course it boasts this bigger version of a whirlpool.
Here's the fitness facility with its new equipment.
Readers wondered whether the Cova Cafe -- Celebrity's signature coffee bar -- would feature chairs and tables, and yes, we can report that it does.
Here's the Martini Bar -- it was in great shape and ready to go on my Friday visit ...
... I'll have a cosmo, please!
