This cruiseline did everything right. From the food to the excursions to the staff they could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They seemed to have thought through everything ahead of time and I would classify this less of a “trip” but an “experience”. Kudos to the chef, the captain and especially our ship host, Song.
I had a special meal requirement and the staff was very helpful. ...
Pros:
very clean and well maintained ship
Internet, when in port, works very well - no streaming
Good organization for departure
More things are included than on some cruises - most alcohol, for example, is included.
Variety of shore excursions was great and it is included in the price.
Food is very good. Well presented, healthy and small size portions meant less waste. ...
The reviews we read on-line from a wide variety of sources were helpful and the deciding factor in selecting AmaWaterways. Viking was described as having funky, leased boats, not their own brand. Uniworld had good reviews, but its Ha Long Bay excursion was not part of the package (and the add-on seemed overpriced). Uniworld's boat was too outside oriented. (FYI: We were cautious about the ...
The remaining three members of my family met up with our older daughter who was already in Vietnam. Our cruise included extra nights on the front end in Hanoi and the back end in Saigon. Highly recommend that you include these land excursions otherwise you will miss so much of what Vietnam has to offer. Our cruise was only half full because it was over Christmas but none of the service and ...

Amawaterways AmaDara 7-14 Dec 2015 Siem Reap to Saigon
We enjoyed a 7 day river cruise on AmaDara from Siem Reap Cambodia to Saigon Vietnam in early December 2015. This was our first cruise with AMAWaterways, on the AmaDara and on the Mekong River.
Pre Cruise
There were pre cruise and post cruise packages that we did not participate in. We organized our own tours with French speaking ...
Our first time on this cruise line and first time on this brand new ship. First time river-cruising, but 15th cruise overall. The ship was very nice with an adequate size, immaculate cabin, facilities, A/C and terrace. The Asian food was excellent.......nice attempts at western food but not as great as the Asian. Lunches & breakfasts were best. Asian food when served was beautifully done. ...
This was our 10th cruise, first on Amawaterways and last river cruise for sure. We boarded the bus from Siem Reap to the ship on a 7 hour bus ride. We made 2 stops along the way for restroom breaks and to stretch your legs. The tour guide stated to us that only a few cruises a year actually depart from Siem Reap so expect to be on the long bus ride to the ship. We booked the entire land portion ...
Have done many river cruises in the past, but this one is something special. (8) ladies traveled on this itinerary. We did the land portion prior to the cruise which included Halong Bay, as many of the competitors did not include Halong, which should not be missed. Our tour director Tony did a fabulous job. All the local guides were excellent and shared many stories of their families ...
